A member of the House of Representatives, representing Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, has reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to enacting laws that enhance youth involvement in policy-making and national development.
He made this known during the inauguration of a state-of-the-art facility donated by Seyi Tinubu to the House Committee on Youth in Parliament, located on Mississippi Street, Abuja.
Alao-Akala, in a statement in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday, said the building, which boasts an e-library, a physical library, and a co-working space, was designed to support young parliamentarians in their legislative duties and foster collaboration on youth-focused initiatives.
The Chairman, House Committee on Youth in Parliament, praised the donation, emphasizing its importance in advancing youth representation.
“This facility will serve as a hub for innovative ideas, youth-focused legislative activities, and stakeholder engagement. It will also solidify the National Assembly’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youths.
“Let me reiterate the unwavering commitment of the National Assembly to enacting laws that will enhance youth involvement in policy-making and national development,” he promised.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also commended the initiative, describing the facility as a transformative addition to youth engagement.
“This innovative space provides an enabling environment where young people can strategize, discuss national progress, and contribute to youth-oriented legislation,” he added.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, expressed hope for its positive impact on youth engagement.
“I wish this existed during my time as Speaker. This is a commendable platform for young legislators to deliberate on nation-building issues. I applaud Tinubu for this visionary project, which will undoubtedly enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians,” Gbajabiamila stated
