President Bola Tinubu will depart Lagos on January 6, 2025, for Accra, the capital of Ghana, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Mahama on January 7, 2025.

In a statement released on Sunday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, it was revealed that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu would be visiting Accra, Ghana, at the invitation of Ghana's newly reelected president, John Dramani Mahama. Mahama, who previously served as Ghana's 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and is set to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2025.

Onanuga highlighted the longstanding personal relationship between Tinubu and Mahama, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.

Tinubu, in his capacity as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, will attend Mahama's inauguration alongside other African leaders.

The delegation accompanying Tinubu will include Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and other senior Nigerian government officials.
